Luck?

Ok I must have some of the worse luck in history! I went to scout the route last weekend after my dad protested about me going. Something about severe weather in the Ky and Tn area. Stupid me didn't listen! Well I guess I wasn't suppose to go! Lost my transmission on my car 22 miles from home. Hit a big (BIG) pothole and car went into what seamed like neutral. No forwards or reverse of any kind. Had to be towed home. This is the second vehical that I lost the trans in trying to scout the route!! Maybe it was a sign that i should listen to my dad! This weekend if all goes well My mother-inlaw is going to take us down to get the route scouted. just wanted to check in and keep you all posted.

The weather in West Kentucky has been nice. The wind has been blowing strong the last couple of days but the weather is easing up in the "80's".

I hope i remember to meet up with you as you ride through the area. Roy

Ok I ran into a snag on scouting the route. with my trans on the car down I will not be able to get it scouted. So I have contacted both Chip and Arlen and we are sure with their gps's and my map we can have a sucessful rallie. My wife was planning on following us down to the cabin in the car and cooking for us. Looks like we will be eating out. I will start looking for places to eat using this great internet. Will keep you all posted

Here are the towns I use to make the new route with mapquest. I am unable to get the link to work.

4 Grand Rivers, Ky
5 Dover, TN (Stewart county)
6 Cadiz, Ky
7 Providence, Ky (Webster county)
8 Sturgis, Ky
9 Old Shawneetown, IL
10 Kabers Ridge, Il(cabin)

Thats the route we will use or stick close to. Breakfast I hope in cave in rock, lunch in dover, tn at Dovers Bar and Grill ( was told it was a great place to eat by a family that travels there 4 times a year from Ky just to eat) And supper somewhere in old shawneetown or new before returning back to the cabin. I will make a list later today of all the resturaunts on route near those towns.

Will be in Dover saturday afternoon not sure on the time. Haven't been able to get down there to ride the route but dover is 104 miles from out starting point. If we keep on track should be there around noonish. I am not sure how long the farry ride is across the ohio river. Thats my best guess! I could give you my cell number (815) 994-1815.

I have a annual poker run i usally go to on that day but i will try and be done by 2:00 in the afternoon.

Best guess, somewhere near Providence. We have a few possible stops between Dover and Providence. Probably supper in Shawneetown??

Ya that was my guess too. The route posted wil be ran counter-clockwise ( I know I am backwards but thats just me I guess! ) So far every route I have planned ran backwards. Thats not to say we couldn't drag our feet a little to make meeting up possible.

The move is going good. Got alot in the new house already but still have a long way to go from being finished. Have to live in the old house till the end of the month so Drake can finish the school year out. Trying to move everything except the bare essentials. Got a bunch of friends comming over today to move everything from the basement, attic, and garage. God I hope I have enough ready to make this a productive day. The hard part is moving the bikes. None of my friends have trucks or trailers its all mini-vans and suv's!

Hi Matt,

Suggestion - When you get to land between the lakes, (heading south), Turn right off the main highway following the scenic route along the lake.

Matt, have you replaced your h-4 headlight bulb? Halogen bulbs get dim over time. They will still light, but not near as brightly as they should.

I plan to ride in from Pigeon Forge TN with Bob Falter on Friday. Perhaps through Cumberland Gap. Red bike has new tires & fresh oil.

I did twice but used a car h-4 not sure if it would make a difference but buying a bike h-4 tomarrow. Can't wait till friday when we all can meet up for another great ride.
