      Day three

day started with me and my wife meeting the other Xser's at the super 8 at 8. We then went to breakfast before Brent headed home. Mind you he still hasn't got his wisconsin cheese. After breakfast Mariann reminded him of this fact so we raced down to the local grocery store to look for wiconsin cheese ( or at least something that said made in wisconsin). Brent bought an arsonal of cheese ( enough to keep a cheese head clogged for a month) We then filled up our bikes and split in two groups. Brent was heading home. Bob was going to follow him a part of the way. Steve and Mariann and me and my wife went for a ride. I took them throught 2 state parks in the area. 1 had a lookout that must have had a thousand steps to the top. After catching my breath and looking at the rock river we contiuned our journy. I then took them to a bike salavage yard after warning them about Crazy George. Steve found a bracket he needed forthe front of his fearing. We then headed to Byron and said goodbyes.

This has been an amazing weekend!!! I am honored to have meet everyone of you! I will deffently be planning for a repeat next year ( this time Without getting lost 5 times, Maybe 3 next year!) Would love to see the photos when they come.

        Home again

        Hi all interested XSivwes,

I made it home in the sort of early hours this morning.

Thanks SO much to Matt & all who helped get me going. Oooo..What-a-Thrill, riding it running strong and smooth again.
Bike woirked well. U-joint replacement remained smooth. Middle gear oil stayed at Just rite level. Final drive stayed full (or over.) I added some oil to engine on trip, but riding 1600 miles, this was expected.

Wisconson Cheese arrived in good condition. Wrapped in 4 bags, a vest, and jacket liner, It was well insulated. I did get then jacket liner back in my jacket before my midnight ride over Mont Eagle. I stopped for gas a lot. Stopped at Advance Auto for oil, Stopped to eat, stopped to rest. stopped when I-65 was closed due to Tractor trailer wreck. Not my best time/distance, but I made the trip and back hiome jsut a few hours later than planned.

        Another successful Wiscon cheese run.

I think the special tank may be a little too amall for distance touring.

LOST ???!!, I did not think we were lost. I remember one wrong turn, stopping to check map and turn around. Seemed like a good excuse to let passengers stretch legs, & photo op. I enjoyed the scenic route.

Glad to here this was the first annual NWIL rally. I know family will be wanting some more good cheese before next year.

        Life is short, ride hard

I finally got time to down load the pictures from the rally. After looking at the pictures I figured out that just remembering to bring the camera is not the only thing I need to do. I need to learn how to use it. A lot of my picture are not focused properly. Sorry Cathy, the picture of you riding your bike is one of those. I guess that means we will have to do it all over again. Then maybe Chip and Oseaghda can give me some pointers. Their pictures look great.

Thanks again to Matt and Barb. It was a great rally and I enjoyed meeting everyone.

WELLLLLL Dang, looks like I missed one heck of a ride. I sure wanted to be at this one too as I have never been to one.
Brent, looks like we could be twins 'sept you got some hair left on the top of your head (or at least on the back part of the top). You need Wisconsin Cheese, I know the best micro cheese maker in the business and will bring a mess of it next time.
Matt, keep me posted, I really hope to make it next time.

                      Souveniers

Yes, I found and carried home the Cheese curds from Wisconsin.
Daughter and Wife were happy.. Thanks for help in shopping. I wrapped cheese up well and they were still cool when I got home, but them again, temps dropped when I came over Mont Eagle at night.

Please do not tell them about the diamond mine in Arkansas. Who knows what they will want me to bring home next?!?!! :0

                      Happy Motoring,

                        ride again soon?

If you want to ride and it is too cold there, come to Florida in January.

See XS southeast rallies, Key west 2008.

                        Y'all are invited

That sounds like a fun ride but not sure how I would get my bike down there. No truck or way to haul it and it's way toocoldand far to ride it. Would love to make it.
