Wow this sounds pretty cool. Im interested but will also have to check with the misses. I am doing a tour through colorado this year. In which ill be gone for a whole week. However I could possibly even come out and do a portion of the tour with you guys just to have the opportunity to meet some fellow members. Ill keep you posted. Any idea of the total mileage of the tour?

Have got a route planned (for now anyway).

Total Est. Time: 6 hours, 58 minutes Total Est. Distance: 249.78 miles

Looks like the absolute shortest between spots to get gas (for the guzzlers that may or may not show up) is roughly 30 miles.

Got a bonified ferry ride cross the Mississippi also..

so the ride would be knocked out in a day? Or are you planning on stopping along the way for an overnight stay somewhere? I noticed that you had the trip planned for 3 days just wondering on where you would be bunking up for the night if that is planned in the route.

The big ride is planned for Saturday With friday night being a meet and greet. Small cruise around the area and hanging out at a friends bar. On the ride Saturday there is some really interesting places I plan on stopping at. Historical Galena, Palasades State park in Savanna, the ferry in cassville, Also balltown has Iowa's oldest bar as I am told. We will also be passing by a year round haunted house. Not sure on the price but takes an hour to go through if anyone is interested. Sunday will be good breakfast and another ride for anyone sticking around.

Is U.S. Grant's home in Galena still open for tours? I went through it back in '85 or so. It was pretty cool, and the countryside is really pretty. I would love to ride that area.

Sorry Matt, but I can't physically make a ride of that distance, 'cause of nerve damage after my wreck in 05. I'm going to be a hurtin' unit this weekend after the TeXSive rally. About 150 miles Friday, 200 Saturday, and 150 again on Sunday. I don't think I'll have any ride left in me after tht.

I was thinking today about splitting the ride in half and adding a stop overnight near Galena so we can enjoy the area more. But I am leaving this open for now. Waiting for more input from the other riders as to a long 1 day or break it to 2 days.

Hi, I am interested.

I have noticed that rallies with central locations to return to each night seem to work better, easier, or more popular than a road trip style with various overnight stops..

I am still working out some of the plans and have yet to ride the route. There is also some camping sites close by and my back yard. I wil keep everyone posted.

Have been surfing this web site for awhile. Just signed in to see if I could and my name to your ride. Sounds like a good time, been dying to go on a ride since last june when some women in a minivan talking on her cell took out my 98 vstar 650.
