    ZRX1200 Carbs vs RS36 Carbs

Hey, Team! Dragging up an old thread, and hoping to consolidate the info into this one here. My BS34 carbs work great. But, I'm contemplating going the ZRX1200 route, as I plan to keep the bike forever, so why not treat it to some modern carbs? I understand the following:
    • The carbs need to be re-jetted
    • The carbs are not spaced perfectly, but close enough
    • The carbs need a choke kit fabbed and installed
    • The carbs need a vacuum port drilled (TAD's thread)
    My questions:
    1. What about the ACV system at the end of the carbs with the electrical connector? What do you do with that? Is there a block-off plate if you remove it?
    2. Would the RS36 carbs from the Oz site be any better or worse than the ZRX carbs, besides cost savings on the ZRX carbs?
    3. Is everyone staying with the modified single throttle cable, or did anyone go with a push/pull cable?

    Anything to add?

When I was running ZRX carbs I didn't notice any difference in performance or gas milage (I didn't do the vaccum port so you may gain some milage) so you really don't gain anything other than they are newer carbs and you need to do some work. But your old ones work fine so why change things unles you are just looking for something to do and that's fine. BTDT. I just left the wires hang there. The carbs fit fine. I used a manuel choke kit from the auto parts. I used the original single throttle cable and modded the carbs linkage. I did a little welding.
79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.
    79 SF parts bike.

Sounds like I'll stay with my carbs, and ensure they get some love in the Spring with a good ultrasonic cleaning and new throttle shaft seals.
