    blinkers-hey lefty

Bike is running great but left turn signals stop blinking at idle with brake on.

Assuming they still blink on the right side? Slow blink or no blink is a sign of dirty connections. Go through all your electrical connections and clean them. Make sure all the grounds are clean and shiny.

Yep, the ground on the left rear is a possible culprit, it is a ring terminal on the turn signal stalk under the fender. It's a pain to get to, need either a 12 or 14MM open end wrench to get it apart. The front not as much as a concern as it has a better connection to the frame.

Are you still running the original flasher under the right side cover, and do you use the self cancelling signals? An electronic flasher will work much more efficiently but you will lose the self cancelling function.

yea works a lot better just cleaning the connectors. Still got original everything.
I did not get to that signal stalk only cleaned under the seat on top of the fender...I'm sure I'll have to do more in the future.
Coming up on all 7ns on the odometer I want to get a picture going 77 as it changes

Glad you got it fixed so easily. With 77K miles, she should be just about broken in.

Awhile back I changed the indicator left blinker bulb in the dash. I used what I could find at the time slightly dimmer not OEM could that affect the left blinkers?

Rev the bike up and check the blinkers on both sides again. If the left blinks normal with it revved up then I would say that what you replaced is not affecting it. The key to the blinkers blinking normal is to actually go through the wiring and check every connection and clean them. I recommend spraying every connection with Deoxit. Good product and it eliminates buildup and oxidation on the connectors. The reason the blinkers don't flash normal is because of the dropped voltage from the dirty connections. Lost smoke as Motoman always said. Just look for Craig Deoxit D5. Worth the money. I have been using it for years. The grounds are generally the worst area to accumulate oxidation and is why we point to them first. It is just good policy to clean all the connections. Takes a while to do but is worth it in the long run for everything and the blinkers.

Even reveded up the left side is slightly slower. Although now they do blink with brake light and bright headlight which to me is functional.
It was a lot of work filing sanding and scraping the grounds ..well worth it.

The LED bulbs with the electronic flasher is the ticket. Converted both my bikes like that and very pleased with it. Super bright. It doesn't care what the voltage is (within reason). No self-cancelling though.
