I usd the K&L kit on my XS750 vacuum actuated petcocks and it was NG.

I switched to manual aftermrket petcocks like I did on two of my XS1100's.

The fix I posted works. It doesn’t take much.

OK, I got the rebuild kit, took the vacuum block apart, and I am confused. The rebuild kit comes with the two thin membrane pieces that go on each side of the spacer. . It would seem the pins have to come out of the old diaphragm and the new one to do this. But I can't see how to get these apart and installed on each side of the spacer. Apologize if this is an idiot question, as I am mechanically challenged by most things. But any advice would be appreciated.

You fold over the one membrane and tuck it into the hole of the block. At least, that is what I did.

OK - disregard that last post as it was an idiot question. I gently bent the membrane through the hole and got the spacer out and aligned again.

My 2 cents is the K&L kits is mostly fine but won't seal with the as issued o ring. I replaced the o ring I think to a smaller size, good for another 20 years! I love the system.

I just installed a Standard rebuilt vacuum fuel tap with the K&L kit today. I had to smash that metal part of the diaphragm in pretty good so the pin and O-ring would reach the newly polished seat. The first time I bashed it, it wasn't enough but the second time it seemed to be the right distance and then it sealed perfectly. I also stretched the return spring some. I used the O-ring that came with the new diaphragm, I didn't change the size. Thanks for that link/tip Marty.
