    new clutch won't disengage

Hi all, just installed a new clutch for the first time, I've been adjusting the cable but cant make the clutch disengage. I put the bike in gear and pull the clutch lever in but the rear wheel stays locked to the transmission. any ideas where I went wrong?

Pull the cover so you can see the end of the clutch cable. There is a lever the cable is connected to. At the pivot point of the lever is a 10mm lock nut and a phillips screw. You will need to adjust this per the book. If I remember correctly, you turn the screw in until it touches and back out 1/4 turn. You will feel the resistance when it does touch.

Thanks Ray, I've adjusted that as per the book, also I had the new clutch plates and friction disc's soaking in oil for over 24 hours before installing.

Your problem could be here. Not installed correctly and binding. Sometimes they can crack.

Maybe there is just surface tension form the oil you correctly soaked the plates in.

Try rocking the bike forward and backward with the clutch lever pulled in.

Thanks guys, I put it on the center stand and ran it in gear and hit the rear brake a few times. That made it 90% fixed. Took it for a ride and all seems perfect now!
