  • Help with mounting the octopus to the carbs

Does anyone have any pictures of how the Octopus is mounted to the carbs? I've tried scouring ebay and whatnot but all the pictures are obscured by the hoses or just at bad angles. I know it goes on top of the carbs somehow but the screw holes don't seem to line up.

Octopus. What’s that? My 79 does not have one.

It's unique to the special edition I believe. Some sort of vacuum fuel shutoff thingy or some such. I know a lot of people delete them but I'd like to set this bike up as it was originally intended.

This is a 1979 Special btw.

Let me try this. It's a MNS carb set, stock, with the octy in the stock location. The Specials have one of the three brackets for the carbs that does have the mount position on it.

PERFECT! Thanks so much! I actually have one of those curved brackets in a random parts batch I got off eBay! Didn't even think about using that.

On the standard 1100s there is a vacuum shut off on each side of the fuel tank which only allows fuel when there’s vacuum so there’s an on prime and reserve position.

You will need this bracket as shown in Rays picture.

Ah yeah the bracket I had was just another throttle cable holder. Thanks for the eBay link, I ordered that bracket, all I have left to do with the carbs now is weld on a choke lever, then they can go back on the bike!

Not sure if this will fit your carbs.

It looks the same, but I can weld up my broken one for free :P
