A lot of aftermarket mirror companies DO make the mirrors for the Yamaha with left/right hand threads. I know I use aftermarket mirrors on my XS, and others have as well. I'm not sure who you can go through in the EU, but a few of the online shops in the US list the mirrors. You need to look at the "stalk" length, or how long the metal bar is from the bolt to the mirror head.

Another option may be to use these righthand to lefthand thread convertors.

One time when I had narrow handlebars on my bike, I used two pieces of 1/8" thick 1" flat bar steel about 2 1/2" long, drilled a 10mm hole near each end, bolted them to the bike mounts, then bolted the mirror to the flat bar. I will try to find a picture. Here it is...

XS1100 Special handlebars will fix it. It will get the mirrors right on out there.

On a more constructive note, I drill out the left hand mirror mount and Helicoil a 10mm right hand thread in it so it is conventional. Mirrors need to be convex so you can see around you.

I certainly could have. I’m rocking those bars on my Special. My XS650 as well. My mirrors work fine without a view of my elbows.

I use a universal bar end mirror on my XS's (left side). They are available in several sizes and with different mirrors. They can be folded out of harm's way when manoeuvring. My girlfriend uses two (left and right).
