  • Rewiring for M.Unit Blue, TCI Wiring & Turn Signals

Hey everyone! Happy to be here on the forum.

I'm rewiring a new harness for my 80' XS1100 SH (based on the 4R0 VIN, I believe its an early 81' SH). The bike was previously owned as a partially built cafe racer project that I've been finishing.

The original wiring harness was heavily modified by the prior owner and suffered a lot of leaks/drains - the battery would drain after a day. I've rewired nearly all of the wiring harness but can't figure out how to get a spark from the TCI with the wiring diagrams I've found online, in conjunction with the M.Unit Blue. The starter runs fine when giving run a push, but she's not igniting afterwards. Looking at wiring diagrams there's a red and black wire I can't figure, as well as several wires previously missing from the connector. Additionally, I can't for the life of me figure the wiring for the three-way turn signal switch and high/low lights to run to the M.Unit from an M.Button system, in Config C. I can get both R/L to fire at the same time... but not separately.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Wouldn't it be nice if that's all a TCI is made of is two transistors and a diode?

LAB3. soon I'm going to disassemble a TCI to see what is exactly inside including parts and part numbers if possible. Here is a better schematic with wire colors and polarity explanations.

I have a pdf from someone who made a replacement board for a TID14-04 for a 1981 XS1100 Sport (EU model). Maybe that can help you. Can't get it online though. Maybe if you sent me a pm with your emailadress?

This is from Werner in Germany. He does however mention Henk's work under TD14-07 ..

Here is a link to Henk Waaijer's work, it is in Dutch however. But you can do your own downloads from everything he did.
