The boots ARE fiddly to get on correctly! I've spend about 1/2 hour to get #2+3 both on. Extra will push them back just a bit into the airbox, and that's OK.

Good to have friends. One of my coworkers, that ran the model shop, retired from the rat race a few years past and set up a machine shop on his property will be busting out my intake manifold parts. Should have the assembly parts by next wknd. Bit of welding then off to get anodized. At this point I'm thinking it's time to pull the head and cylinders for the valve job and Wiseco 1196 big bore kit required machining.

Just got the Aluminum intake parts made up and back to the Bax Cave. Test fit the parts and orings protrude as expected = all looks good. I'll weld them up and drop the manifolds off to get hard black anodized. Working on the air box next.....

A bit of progress with few minor mods to the stock airbox past few days. Doing a bit of the lower cover drilling mod with a few tweaks, first back to the 3D printer for a F-117 looking scoop for the new lower inlet and second an intake separation damper. Both fit as expected and you wouldn't see it if you didn't know to look. Got a T-MAP sensor on the way, that'll get mounted on the top of the box, just under the tank mount, slightly forward of the snorkel.

You do have something in the "drain hole", correct? there was a "filter" there from the factory.

DiverRay Yeah, the drain hole filter protrusion was removed to accommodate the addition of the lower intake scoop. That existing hole will now be used for one mounting point for the lower scoop and the drain function, if needed, will be the new lower intake aperture.

Okay, long wknd.....planning on some good XS-21 progress. Had the 3D printer going again this morning, made up a quick mounting flange to mount the T-MAP sensor on the air box. I pulled the TB array off the bike and got the airbox in the basement warming up for the drilling and adhesive work later tonight. A few pics of the new bits.

Sensor flange forever added to the air box. Just about permanently set but I had to walk away before I was too tempted to start actually poking at it. Think I'd know by now........Ughhhh.
