  • Front Foot Rest Rubbers...

...Has anyone replaced theirs? I'm just wondering what the process is and how many cuss words are involved. '81 XS1100LH. I'm guessing that you just cut the old ones off and drive the new ones on, but since I don't actually know, and REALLY don't want to screw it up, I thought I'd ask. Any info (or links) y'all can provide would be most appreciated. I've done a forum search, to no avail. TIA.

If you have new ones in hand, and the old ones are trash, just cut them off. They're hooked bottom inboard if you want to try to save them. The new ones just slide on.

Your challenge is to find the flat ones for your pegs. I believe the XJ used the same ones so maybe use that in your search. Wait until you have new ones in hand before removing old ones.

Whoa, there is a lot of hard to find parts available from that place.....like the condom that goes over the brake master cylinder plunger. I always tear that thing trying to get it off and have to buy a $25 rebuild kit just to get the condom.

              Thanks for posting it Mark!

                Here is another I found.
                https://www.cruzinimage.net/?s=xs1100
I got a set of air box to carb boots for 40$, quality is really good also. The only drawback is they are coming from Japan and it takes about 2 weeks to get something.

                  More great parts!

I see lots of great deals on other 'hard to find' part on that CruisinImage site.

Kurt bought a set of piston rings from CruzinImage and he seemed pleased with them.

I might start replacing brake caliper parts now I can see them for $10/set! Usually they are about $25/caliper.

Who would think you could get a carb slide piston (with diaphram) for $20?
I would expect to pay $100.

Posts like this are why it is essential we get this site back up and running properly. Well done mlew for finding and sharing some excellent sources of hard to find parts.

Note the Sumo rubber parts are priced in Euro. Look for the Euro amount for free shipping to USA. Landed cost may be cheaper to buy 2 or add some other parts to your order.

I noticed that sumo rubber has them listed as the original 3H5- part number. Do you know if yours have the steel plate in them, or are they solid rubber? I found some repros on fleaBay, which they describe as solid rubber. I found some 4X7's also, but I think the 4X7's don't have the angle on the underside on the outer end. Thanks.

I can not tell by scrutinizing mine whether or not there is steel in them. I know there is in my XS650 covers and they're the same as the earlier XS1100. If mlew says they fit perfect, I think you can take that to the bank. I'd go with him on that.

The original had a metal plate on the outside underneath on the outer angle. I don't think the plate is structural but there in case you scrape the peg on the road. The new ones did not have them, but they look and fit exactly as the OEM. No Yamaha logo on it either. I have had them on for a year and they have not come loose or given me any problems or concerns. You cant tell a difference unless you look under the peg and know what you are looking for.
