I just peeled the old rubber back far enough on the original tees for a couple of nitrile o rings on BOTH ends and it works great.
A little silicone grease so they slide in easy and BINGO! No more leaky tees.Greg

Yep, I'm still here Marty. I had one of those O ring repairs fail on a members bike, the bike does not see much use and the O rings dried out and failed. I won't use HF O rings anymore.2H7 (79) owned since '89

sorry, I gotta word this better...
Ok, here's what I mean:
The connection from the petcock, TO A TEE FUEL-FITTING, in which THE STRAIGHT PART goes to the octy, AND THE BOTTOM PORT OF THAT SAME TEE connects VIA A FUEL LINE to THE BOTTOM FUEL TEE on the carbs. I remove THE TOP TEE SETUPS from THE BOTTOM TEE SETUPS so that I can just keep the tubes together, and cleanly yank the ol' carbs. I just cleaned up the TEE's a few months ago...no problems there at all! PRISTINE.
In the manual, it says when removing the carbs to put the petcocks on the "on" or "res" position. I always just turn them off. However, I DON'T remember i'd ever had that petcock ON when I yanked the carbs.
That brings me to: when checking for leaks, after the carbs were OFF THE BIKE, I turned the petcock ON to see if fuel would come OUT OF THE TOP TEE (bottom port) fuel feed that feeds to the BOTTOM CARB BOWL TEE. and it indeed did come FLYING out of there, and I couldn't remember if it SHOULD...or if it shouldn't be feeding any fuel from that petcock port unless the bike was running and had vaccum??? See what I mean??
I'm starting to think that I just had dirty carbs, and I'm FREAKING OUT about something rather trivial, haha.
Sorry about that...I definitely wasn't very clear. I was WAY TIRED when I made most of these posts!!80' XS1100 SG "Dottie"

Are you saying there at 2 tee setups on each pair of carbs? An upper tee and a lower tee?Greg

I just didn't know if they (the top tee octy lines) were supposed to feed fuel while on the ON position WITHOUT vacuum (aka, engine started), or if they just fed fuel to the carbs, and the ACTUAL CARBS only fed fuel to the engine when it was running (WITH vacuum). I thought that line was only supposed to feed fuel like that in the "prime" position?? Either way, I'm on my way (1.5 mile walk...) to pepboys now for oil and random stuff. Hopefully they have inline fuel switches in stock...

Yes, those tees above the carburetors always have fuel as the taps on the tank will always flow whether PRIME or ON. PRIME should be plumbed to allow you to bypass the shutoff valve.
I replaced those tees with brass ones from my local hardware store. It's all been working fine for a few years now.Marty (in Mississippi)
