If you have an SF, you need your own copy of the parts catalog. It has been removed from the Yamaha site and all of the vendors. The parts, however, are still available.

If you can't find it on this forum, I downloaded my own. Get with me after next week's rally and I can send it to you.

Have one saved on my computer now. I looked and can fine the parts just a week out so am waiting.......

The server is busy ATM so I wasn't able to look up any part #s but I usually find the correct part # and copy and paste it on Partzilla with good luck.

Down loaded it a month ago when I picked up the bike. I am new to these and any help is great for me.........

Wish that web site worked.......it would be a great resource.

Probably just pick up some on ebay and over pay but I want the OEM stuff.

Woo Hoo new fork seals showed up and well they are like butter showed up early as I checked the mail tonight........popped one on and it slid in nice compared to what I had........,to many beers so play with it so tomorrow......

Tore the whole frontend down and re painted the tree and re greased the bearings.......felt like gravel once I pulled the forks off......cant believe someone would not do regular maintenance.......

Oh and what fork oil do you guys use? I have 20W in the garage already but if need be can grab something else.....Thanks!

Will work fine and actually improve the dampening rate keeping that front from diving under braking.

Looking forward to this weekend...................finish the carbs once I get the forks on......new exhaust and new coils already mounted.

I recommend 10w. 20w will slow your high speed dampening. You can tune the dive out with more oil.

I ended up grabbing some 10W and going to fill it tonight after dinner. Amazing how easy the seals go in when you have the correct size

After a weekend of working on it.......I am ready to hit the road for a test run. Had a few issues this morning due to me being and idiot turned the tank around and well fuel not getting to one side and only 2 cylinders running.......

So a quick run of what I did.

Carbs cleaned again and one size bigger on the pilots and the mains. Also 4 new floats as 2 were squished a little. That may have been one issue on my stumble.

Order a new MAC system but no clamps when I opened the box so stuck the old 4 into 1 back on it. Its kind of growing on me I like the look after painting the header black.

Drilled the rotors, rebuilt the calipers and drained both masters and new fluid.

Pulled the rear drive cleaned and painted with new grease.

New tires as who knows how old the other ones were and painted the wheels.

Rebuilt the forks with new seals and fresh oil and a TKAT fork brace.

Took off the factory bars as I was not liking the look much. Not sure if I am happy now but can live with it.

Anyhow got it all together this morning and synced the carbs and it runs great in the garage.......no hesitation on throttle response like before so hopefully the gremlins are gone.......

I know some may be offended as its not stock but I am not a fan of stock. I just want a simple runner that is fun to ride. I need a little smaller seat I think a third world country could fit on that thing

I cleaned them up really good and then ran a wire wheel over them with a grinder and also sanded with the grinder where I could. Then ran a scotch brite over them and painted with the DEI paint. I used it years ago on a exhaust tip on my truck and that had held on for 5 years now. They did smoke right at the heads but that was expected as the chrome turns blue there. Will see how it holds up but I like the look much better than the blue chrome

Got it out for a quick run as rain is on the way.......... this thing is nuts now I love it.........no more hesitation and runs through the gears great well at least to third......as I didn't want to piss off the neighbors to bad as I left the neighborhood.

Question though and will search more as I remember weeing it......speedo only goes to thirty or so and well I was doing just a tad bit more I am sure.....I did pull the speedo and also the assembly at the wheel and that part was cleaned and greased before putting it back on. Any thoughts?

Easier to just replace the speedo than try and fix it. The 160 MPH Special speedos are getting pretty rare but you can get a 140 MPH one that matches off of an old 750. At least until you get yours fixed or find another 160.

There are 2 different faces so get the correct one to match the black tach. there's an ugly green one too but the numbers are different too.
