    Marty,

I have a very old 4-1 MAC system that was sold at the time by JC Whitney, but it is the same as the MAC you're showing. Mine fits fine, and my centerstand works just fine. They provide a bracket you put on the left side frame to keep the CS in the proper position so it doesn't hit the pipes. My bike is an 81SH, but we know the frames are essentially the same, so the Macs should work with the other years/models as well.

No, you have the lyrics wrong. It goes "the waiting is the hardest part"
If the chrome bothers you, you CAN scuff it with 600 wet/dry paper, wet, and then use a spray can of the high temp coating on it.

Not sure what I want to do. I have some wrap on another bike and kind of like it so may go that rout or yes paint it black......it will be blue real quick anyway and that I don't like.

Parts all showed but need to rebuild the forks..........I got a set of fork seals from K&L and well cant get them to go in........beating my head against the wall. What size seals go with the specials? I am finding conflicting info searching on here.

This is killing me as I need the forks to get the bike off the jack so I can hook up the new exhaust...........

Thanks! and that's what I thought from reading on here. The K&Ls were 37x49x8/9.5.......sold as 79 special seals......I am now in search of other seals.

What brand do people use now ? Don't think my local dealer has anything as they are limited on parts.

Why not just use OEM seals? Partzilla has them. OEM parts are much less hassle when you can get them.

                        I will go that rout......thanks!!!!!

I would rather go that rout and this is all new to me so finding parts can be a PITA sometimes.

Also another quick question clymers said springs were 24" plus well measured mine and there just under 24" like 23 7/8s. I know over the years they will compress but are they junk or ?

The size you posted (37x49x8/9.5) is for the Standards.

Also the stock fork springs were'nt all that when new just like all other bikes of the era, but if your springs don't have high milage on them IMHO you'll be fine.
With the stock springs or even performance springs, oil weight, quantity and air charge are all factors that help determine a good handling bike.

I'm not crazy about the stock springs, but they're probably fine. Service the oil to 130 mm from the top of the tube with fork compressed and spring out. I'm happier that way. Just be sure to change oil often. The soft sliders dirty it up quickly.

This site is invaluable : http://xs1100.com/index.php

The server is busy ATM so I wasn't able to look up any part #s but I usually find the correct part # and copy and paste it on Partzilla with good luck.
