The main jet is a non removable pressed-in jet. It feeds air bleed to the emulsion tubes along the main jet needles. Those things are easy to plug and affect richness above 3000 rpms. Carb spray will enter the main jet bore if the emulsion tube is removed.80 SG

You have the '80 - '81 series carburetors.
The hole you have the arrow pointing to in your picture is for the pressed-in Main air jet, not the float bowl vents. If there is fuel coming out of the Main air jet inlet hole, something is wrong.
To help you get an idea of what you're dealing with, here's a thread with pictures made by TopCat when he sliced and diced some carburetors:-

You don't really have to do all of that however...you can spray into the main air jet and it will dribble out of the main fuel jet, proving the main air jet is clear.Skids (Sid Hansen)

So they are saying the float level is off, as in too high. Go back to my last post and give it a try BEFORE going on another tangent. START WITH THE BASICS! DOES the needle and seat stop the flow of fuel? Is fuel getting in from someplace else?(leaky "O" ring seal, bad casting). AFTER that, go to step 2, float adjustment.Ray Matteis

Have you checked the serial number on your motor and checked the number on your TCI and centrifugal advance to see if they are compatible.mack
