  • 1980 SG left front caliper piston will NOT come out...

i'm getting fluid to the caliper, the lines are totally fine...been pumping the hell out of the brake trying to get it out. front right came right out. i tried to push the piston back in a little to free it up, but it will NOT come back out. i don't have an air compressor...please help! i'm irritated beyond belief right now!

    Hi Erm83,
I have heard that pumping full of grease will **** anything
Just change the bleed nipple for a grease nipple and use a hand pump grease gun. Clean up with what ever it takes but be sure to rinse with clean brake fluid before reassembly. Compressed air is a very danfgerous method best avoided.

Grease gun on that fitting will push that piston right out.

Fill the caliper full of brake fluid before using the grease gun, less grease to clean up. Find a bolt that threads into the banjo bolt hole to block it.

          projectile

Hold it down with old rags under the piston, keep fingers out of the way.
It may come out slow and smooth or like a rocket.
I had one dent the top of the hardwood work bench with a nice crescent moon shape.
Good not to have fingers in the way !
