Ron...in all honesty...it is your bike that my inspiration to transform Swampthing ...comes from....While others have had thier venturers...when i saw what you have done to turn yours into a venturer or touring bike...then I said hey...why not? Randy the PO and creator of Swampthing staarted the process a few years ago when he added the Plexistar windscreen and the OEM Yamaha hard bags. So I am just finishing this transformation...eventually i will find lowers that hopefully arent priced as their weight in gold..would love to find them now before we paint but time and budget dictate otherwise...IMHO the fairing is incomplete without the lowers...

Pretty sure Type 54 is not what you want. I have them for my Windjammer V, which Vetter says is the only fairing they fit.

I have a set for a different Windjammer (unknown, but earlier than a WJ V) that you can have for free but no idea if that would work either. PM me if you want them. They're dark blue. Another Xser passed them along to me so happy to find them a home.

Hmm...Thankyou for your fine offer...PM will be sent soon... Keep in mind the Venturer fairing is Yamaha branded made by Vetter but there is no mention of it in their nomenclature...The consensus thus far has been that type 54 is correct...so I am now somewhat conflicted...nothing new there

To add further...if you look at the Vetter link that Greg posted here...you will see that the Windjammer 5 came out in 1981 which is the same year for the venturer...type 54 is correct for WJ5 as well...so the venturer fairing is a WJ 5 variant...Vetter makes no mention of the venturer fairing so it is somewhat confusing...but again the consensus is that type 54 is correct... especially if we go by production year...1981...it just makes the most sense to me...

Greg, I PMd you back. Now I'm beginning to think you may be right. Let me see if I can fire up photobucket and take enough photos to sort it out.

is there a yellow sticker on the back of your lowers? If there is it'll be written on them as to what type they are..

If this works I hope it helps. I found these after about 6 months of having my iphone ebay app set on an automated search. I think I paid $40 for the pair.

I can't read the yellow sticker. Does it say what type they are?

Kinda looks like the box for type 54 is marked.

Sorry, that photo is crappy, even right side up. It's absolutely Type 54 box checked. They fit my WJ V perfectly, and match the paint. I just have never permanently fastened them, since my XS is sitting two hours away this season, due to logistical issues. Living in NYC can be a pain...

Eh, I have a V and I know the type 54 fits it, it's the Yamaha branded Vetter fairing on the 81 Venturer we were wondering about but thanks for the input.

Vetter never mentions the Venturer ...My theory is that they just said fits XS1100...meaning all models..Now according to Vetter's website is the following...So we see here that the WJ5 dates 1981-1984...then Type 54 is listed for XS1100 amongst others....So this tells me ALL Fairings made from 1981 on will fit with the type 54...there is no mention of the Venturer as it falls within the category labeled "XS1100"...
