Ron...in all honesty...it is your bike that my inspiration to transform Swampthing ...comes from....While others have had thier venturers...when i saw what you have done to turn yours into a venturer or touring bike...then I said hey...why not? Randy the PO and creator of Swampthing staarted the process a few years ago when he added the Plexistar windscreen and the OEM Yamaha hard bags. So I am just finishing this transformation...eventually i will find lowers that hopefully arent priced as their weight in gold..would love to find them now before we paint but time and budget dictate otherwise...IMHO the fairing is incomplete without the lowers...

To add further...if you look at the Vetter link that Greg posted here...you will see that the Windjammer 5 came out in 1981 which is the same year for the venturer...type 54 is correct for WJ5 as well...so the venturer fairing is a WJ 5 variant...Vetter makes no mention of the venturer fairing so it is somewhat confusing...but again the consensus is that type 54 is correct... especially if we go by production year...1981...it just makes the most sense to me...Last edited by madmax-im; 07-22-2016, 12:39 PM.1980 XS650G Special-Two

is there a yellow sticker on the back of your lowers? If there is it'll be written on them as to what type they are..Greg

Sorry, that photo is crappy, even right side up. It's absolutely Type 54 box checked. They fit my WJ V perfectly, and match the paint. I just have never permanently fastened them, since my XS is sitting two hours away this season, due to logistical issues. Living in NYC can be a pain...
