    Bars

Thanks for the pics Greg. The right side legs being so much shorter without spacers I don't think I can make those gaps by bending it. Plus I think it will hit the engine cover before the tabs would reach the frame. One thing on your bars the very bottom tabs are extended more than mine. I will pull the bolts out and try and mock it and get back. Man I sure wanted these to work the 3pts in decent shape are very dang hard to find.

      as a side note.

The crash bars that just came off my XJ had some decent sized spacers on the right hand side

Look at my picture of the extra set I have compared to the picture you posted at the beginning of this thread.

It looks to me like the set you have are from a different bike. If they were advertised as for an XS11 whoever sold them to you was misrepresenting them.

If you bought them off of ebay you should contact the seller and tell him you want your money back PLUS return shipping or you will file a complaint with ebay and screw up his sellers status.

            Seller

Yeah I emailed the seller and he said he thought he pulled those from an XS11 but might have made a mistake. He was nice and offered me half my money back and maybe I could make them fit but I can't use them. He will have to refund me plus shipping. I didn't buy them through EBay but I used PayPal and can still file a claim but I don't think it will come to that, I think the guy will refund me. Damn thought I had some decent 3pts

Do you by chance have a few pics of those bars?

I used a piece of all-thread on that bottom mount of mine. Greg has a hardware store they sold stainless metric at. It goes all the way through from one side to the other. Just put two nuts, then a washer between the bars and the engine. Put the bars on with the other two mounting points, then run one nut and washer up against the back side of the bar to where you want it, then tighten the 2nd nut up against the back of that one. Then another nut/washer on the front side.

                Make what ya got work.

That's the upper mount Tod. The lower mounts have individual bolts for each side. Go look.

The seller I bought the bars from was a nice guy and said he would refund my money $70. He mentioned a partial refund if I wanted to use them as wall hangers..LOL. I told him I would eat $20 just to save re-packing the darn things and driving to the PO. He refunded me back $50 this morning. So now I only have $20 invested and don't mind putting a cheater pipe, hammer and 4x4..etc.

You're right, but the same thing (Using shorter piece of all-thread) would fix him up.

I will try the all-thread Todd. I understand what your saying, bolt one of the bar points up and use the all-thread to "draw up pull up" the other bars in place. Thanks Todd. The right side may have to have a spacer as the legs on the right are a little shorter. Greg said it will look cobbled with a spacer and I agree, but maybe I'll just need one on the bottom so you can't see it.

It looks like the bolt holes line up pretty fair. The middle one goes to the wrong bolt there but as long as the flange clears the lower bolt head it might be OK.

Yeah I noticed too the middle bar went to the wrong hole, I will make sure it clears the other bolt when I get it bolted up. Thanks Greg
