  • Engine/Crash Bars??

Hey guys, I'm wanting to buy these bars and need to make sure they will fit my '81SH. In the pic it looks like one of the lower bars are longer than the other, are they suppose to be this way?

Yes they will. I have the same bars on my SG. They will actually fit ANY XS - XJ11 because they mount to the engine mount bolts and those are all the same.

      Bars

Ok good, do you see what I'm talking about as far as the bottom bars being different lengths Greg? If they are suppose to be the same I could fit them with spacers I guess.

Looks like the mounting tabs might be a little bent. No big deal. Could be just the angle of the pic causing an illusion too.

Thanks for the pics and advice Greg! Yeah it's probably just the way the pics are angled. If they are a little off I will persuade them to fit!!

Ask for any hardware. To mount these, there is a long "through-bolt" that is probably longer than stock due to the thickness of the mounting tabs. I think that is part of the engine mount.

I have used all-thread and cut it to length and was assured on this site that the material is as strong as the original through-bolt. You can use "Buddy nuts" on one end to hold it from turning when you tighten the opposite side.

Thanks, I will ask for hardware and will go with the all tread if need be.

SS allthread is pretty much a necessity on that upper bolt.

That was a goofy woman backing out in front of me in a mall parking lot. The bike tore her bumper cover off and my right shoulder caved in her right rear quarter panel.

I skinned my knee a little.

                              Here's the repair.......
