ANY mior distortion(cocked to one side a bit on initial starting instalation or not using the cup provided to keep distortion from hapening.........not using the install cup WILL distort that thin metal enough. Oil has better visibilaty than you, and finds its way out.
I read (somewhere) that the sleeve needs to be put in backwards on these bikes. That's what I did last time. Because of that I didn't use the cup but tapped it in with the mallet. It came out easy enough with a screwdriver so the inner edge may have been widened during installation.

I also saw that someone had to dremel the outer edge after the installation part was removed. I did that but couldn't tell if it was actually required.

So ANY suggestions will help. I don't want to buy a third sleeve.

Okay, I installed the new speedie sleeve making sure it's nice and even. I smeared the axle with a little RTV before hand. It mostly pushed it off. I also put it in backwards and polished it.

I had to file down the outer edge of the sleeve to alow the seal to slide on without rolling the inner lip. Since the sleeve is backwards the installation ring left behind a very rough edge.

I put RTV around the seal to hold it in place.

I've ridden over 200 miles without any leaking so I'm hopeful. Just in case, I will have two new replacement seals with me at xsse.

      Thanks!

I've now ridden well over 2K miles without any leaking so I'm calling it fixed. :-)

Glad it worked I think with 2000 miles you've got it fixed.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.
