The Flooding continues
OK guys and girls for your reading entertainment this morning. To answer a few more of your questions. FIRE: I have a welder and cutting torch in the shop so I always have a few extinguishers. Do you guys always think a person to be be an idiot if one posses a question here regarding your collective EXPERIENCE. So yes as I've already stated I have run a pipe cleaner through the upper bowl vents. As I understand physics if one did have a plugged bowl vent this would cause a vacuum to develop in the bowl and rather than developing a flooding issue one would have a lean issue. If you disagree with that please explain your physics? Besides we are talking about flooding with the engine off (no vacuum). And to define gross flooding as in poring, just think of turning the petcock on with no fuel line POORING on the floor (this would be a gross amount of flooding as compared to moderate or minimal) (minimal as in an o-ring or T-fuel line leaking) (gross as in before taxes) MotoMan I have trimmed the gaskets. I have put the original pins back in. I have reset the fuel level to 23mm (I had progressively lowered them to 27 trying to get rid of the flooding). I have not yet received the new needle valves but I thought I would try cleaning the ones I had with 2,ooo grit sand paper to remove the little ring on them. I polished the inside of all the bowls as some had some factory casting flaws. I re cleaned the seat (still shining). Re set the float lower limit to just let needle open, so achieving the minimal float travel. Re checked float alignment (perfect). Ran the paper filters no dirt in carb. Not only have I blow through the fuel line with carb up side down and the right side up (working perfectly) I re- pressure tested them (not as pretty as some you have posted but it worked)( fuel tank sitting on picnic table (yes the picnic table in outside) , carbs on seat, clear plastic tubes running from all four bowls) came right up the lower edge of the bowls (yes all equal) and held for some time, no flooding! Put em back on the bike took her for a short ride = 1 OK 2 now flooding 3 no fuel in bowl 4 OK go figure. There is no point in instructing me re: Ya gotta sink it, setting the valves, finely tuned engines when fuel is running on the ground. Hope you enjoyed it. Bike is up for sale cheap anyone live near Seattle and want it.
