    Fiamm horns are pretty loud.
1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
    1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
    1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
    1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
    1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

+1 They are marketed under different names, Wolo Bad Boy is another. Requires a relay install due to the demand of draw. Horn install will have to be a custom mount.

Fiamms or the look a likes at auto stores. Very loud. Will require a relay and custom mounting. I was able to use the stock mounting point with some homemade brackets. Mounted relay in same area. Stock horn wiring powers relay. Ran power to relay from battery with fuse. Turns a "please don't run me over" beep to a "move the freak over" wail.

          Hey Mack,

The Stebel Nautilus series are the original brand name type.

The Wolo brand has 2 variations, the 419 and 619.

All of these are compressors mounted directly to the horns....not hoses or such needed.

Here's a FIAMM single electric horn type, but you'll need to wire in a relay just like the above ones to handle the current draw it will require.

These are the ones I put on mine, they are fairly loud, definitely louder than the OEM type, but probably not as loud as the compressor types above.

Just had the Stebel go caput after about 5 years. Only the compressor noise now, no toot.
I think I'll try the Fiamms next.

Check out this rig. Ebay has em. Sea Ray Boat horn #1780938. OEM on a Sea Ray Boat. Its electronic, not a diaphragm style. Draws very little juice, like milliamps. I was replacing horns on my boat almost every year till I put one of these in. Still going strong after 9 years. Totally waterproof. Noise it puts out is very similar to the electronic horn on a cop car, very very loud and unique sound that should get a cagers attention pretty quick. I will be mounting two of these in my Windjammer when my current set of Fiamms take a dump. I am sure with some creativity, they could be mounted on a naked bike.

We must have better drivers down this way... About the only time i know my horns work is during its annual safety inspection, or when i occasionally mistake it for the start button... Almost never use 'em. Dont need too.

                      LoL

Can't say I've ever used mine on the SF or LH either, but it's that one time you really need it, and all you get is a squeak! That could make the difference in one of the frequent, parking lot or intersection accidents we all hear about.

Stebel's quality has gone downhill over the years so while they are loud they dont seem to last as long anymore...Fiamms I have heard are a good choice... you should get 2 one in Low tone and one in high tone....Regardless of which horns you buy, I reccommend you buy a specific wiring harness with a relay. Dont use your existing wires as the current drawn from these horns will exceed the orig. wires capacity and will burn up.... Having said that I'm not sure who makes a horn /relay harness ...used to be a guy in Jaapan...will have to see if i can find that...

Nothing really to it. Buy yourself some 12awg stranded wire, get an appropriate sized single pole single throw relay an hook it up. Run the 12 awg wire straight to the battery and trigger the relay with the original horn wire.

No sense paying $30 plus shipping for something you could do (probably better) for less than $10.

                            Hi Mack,
Canadian Tire carries the Fiamm for about $30 a pair.
I have them on my XJ650. I call them my "wake the trucker horns"
While I never needed to wake a trucker it is good to have.

You forgot ONE IMPORTANT THING!! Put a 20A Fuse near the battery! without a fuse, you can fry a LOT of the bike and wires. If you have a TC fuse block, wire the relay through a 20A fuse in it.
