Thanks Ian. Just ordered some. Now if I could only find the wave washer..... Might have to buy a whole petcock. This is part of the fun of building these old bikes

I gave a couple petcocks away to a fellow forum member who moved out East. Have not heard from him in awhile.

Not exactly. Special petcocks do not fit on a standard due to bolt spacing. XS650 and some others will match bolt spacing.

Def not a 750/850 Standard petcock Marty. Since you did not recognize it as a 650/1100 Special petcock, I assume it's a Special from some other bike.

Looking at them again, the arrangement of the nipples (yup, nipples), seems like they'd definitely be Special petcocks. Sure look like XS11 Special petcocks to me. And, if they do not match-up to a Standard tank, maybe they bored the holes out on the petcocks, or it's a Special tank?

What app do you guys use to post pics from your phone? I can upload a pic of the tank and maybe solve this mystery.

Phtobucket has an app, but I've never posted a pic from my phone. Which tank do you have?

If you do indeed have petcocks from a Yamaha Special (of any displacement), you may be in luck, Rob.

The wave washers for Special petcocks appear to be available from Partzilla.

Can't wait to see which tank you have ...

Phew! I was about to order a whole petcock just to get the wave washer. Off to partzilla. Thanks all!

I'm at partzilla....wave washer for 1100 is "obselete" but not for other displacements. Before I order,...you're saying I can get a wave washer for an xs750SF and it will be the same?

                            Mr. Hammer,

Take a break. You're getting this wrong. You have a tank for a Special. The fuel cocks are completely different than the standard in both size and function. The picture is from a 1980 XS1100SG. If you have a Special tank, you need to use the Special diagram. See item #20-33. PN 10L-24518-00-00

Hammer- Bouncing off Marty, the wave washer for your bike is still available. It was used on the Special 1100's, plus the XJ. And no, the 750 did not use the same washer. Boats.net, etc., have the washer in-stock.

FWIW, I don't believe any of these OEM parts suppliers stock anything. You order from them, and they order from a central warehouse. I used to get my Yamaha parts from a little bike shop run from an attached garage in a residential neighborhood. I got the parts at dealer cost. At that rate, I'd never have anything, but Yamaha. I asked Big Steve how he was selling me parts at dealer cost. He told me his friend Billy worked in the warehouse, and he was providing parts at 20% below dealer cost, so he was giving me an unbeatable deal and making 20% in the process. Unfortunately, all good things must end. Billy moved on from the warehouse. That should explain why it takes so much time to get your parts. Partzilla provides tracking to show when they receive the parts you order. That's a nice touch.
