Been thinking lately about the plumbing for this E. Is there any advantage to the vacum petcocks on the standard tanks over the gravity feed that the specials have when the octy is removed? I think I want to reduce the network and simplify.

Special petcocks won't fit due to different spacing. You can use similar year aftermarket XS650 petcocks from Mike's XS or adapter plates and universal petcocks from Parts-N-More. The quality of the aftermarket stuff is questionable and the stock petcocks will last for a very long time if you build them properly.Marty (in Mississippi)

I have two sets of stock
petcocks here but they aren't in very good shape. The aluminum is soft, almost rotten I'd say ,covered with white powder. I've cleaned them a couple times but the powder keeps coming back.
I was wondering if there was any advantage to keeping the vacum style. I'm sure I can get a gravity feed assy that will fit and be able to do away with two hoses and just cap off the intake boots.mack

Pingel
Pingel makes vacuum operated valves but I think fitment may be an issue because of the adapter you would need to install on the 11. I have one on my 82 CBX 1000 and it works great.
