To repair my broken studs I used steel threaded rod cut to length and Stainless Coupling Nuts. I did not want to use SS for both rod and nut as then there is the risk of galling. Tinman905 did the installation as he had excavated the pesky broken stud for me.

On my broken stud on Great Ranger I broke off the extractor inside neccessitating a different approach. I used a 3/8" diamond core bit like this to drill around the stud using a constant water bath to clear the cuttings:

Then chiseled out the free standing center section about 0.25" deep. I took a metric grade 8 bolt and ground the head to match the drilled portion - tapering it to fit tight when inserted. Used another diamond tipped dremel to cut holding grooves all around it, and used steel epoxy and drove it into the cavity till flush. As long as I don't crank hard down on it I don't think its going anywhere.

I still need to cut it down to length a bit to match the other studs.
