"Do you need pics? I have BOTH types out in my garage."

If you could post pics of both of those covers that would be a big help.

Been a while since I put mine back on, but it seems that cover would only go on one way, that is if you have the right one. Look back at the pics I posted of my assembly. From the looks of your first posted pics of yours that cover and you have is different then mine.
Here is how I currently have it installed.

It is on there backwards, the other end should slip into the seal and the dust cover won't rub. However, I can see from the first set of pics that you have the wrong part there. The Special spacer is much thicker on the outside that goes against the brake bracket.

          Sure, thank you very much.

I'm completely confused now. The previous owner must've done some serious work on this part of the bike. The fact that the manuals do not differentiate between models and are ambiguous does not help.

Oh, alright. Good. So I should just need the correct spacer and all my woes will be resolved, then.

I can't thank you guys enough for the time you've put in helping me.

Is this the spacer I need? Thicker. Found it in a thread discussing the same issue.

Colin, are you working this weekend? If not, give me a call and I'll take you out to see Benny. He'll have what you need. He doesn't think anything is worth putting money into, but his prices are reasonable and like I said, he'll have what you need, at least he did last time I went digging around there. He's a decent guy, always seems to have what I'm looking for. Have a nice day and ride safe

                • Here is the setup for the 17" Standard wheel........

Torque bracket, spacer, and inner spacer......

These are first the thicker inner spacer for the 16" Special wheel.......

And the also thicker torque plate for the 16" Special wheel........

The extra spacer ISN"T USED ON THE 16" WHEEL .

you definitely have the wrong one. The picture you just posted is not the right one either. If you can just grab that cover from the source Lorax is telling you about you will probably save money. Otherwise grab the part I posted earlier off of Ebay from that Midnight Special. It is for sure the right one and will resolve your issues.

Look at this link second picture posted. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-XS110...8ee696&vxp=mtr

Third item to the left is one piece and is the seal cover you need.

Don't know what got your feathers ruffled but I am only trying to help this young man. I have the same bike he does and I am telling him exactly what he needs. He can take the advice or not. I am not here to make enemies. But what I have told him is correct.

What part of what I have said is uninformed in your opinion?

He is working with a special 16 inch wheel right now... He has abandoned the 17 inch wheel.

                          • Greg,

I have no doubt that you know what you are talking about. What differs at this point from what you are telling him versus what I have told him. We are agreed he has the wrong part and needs to acquire the right one and his problem will be solved.

                            • If you will quit confusing him that will be done in short order.

If I read your post correctly you told him that the the parts I said are correct are, in your opinion, incorrect. Did I misunderstand your words?

                              • Greg,

I believe initially you thought he was working with a 17 inch wheel from what was being posted by you. Somewhere along the way I believe you realized that he was now working with a 16 inch wheel. You were telling him that he needed to reverse a part that he had on backwards...(and it may have well been on backwards which did not discount the fact it was still the wrong part which is what I was trying to get corrected with my post)

He even corrected you one time with his post

                                Quote:

                                Picture shows 16".

He just didn't answer that question quick enough. I knew all along he was working with the 16 inch wheel and needed what I was trying to tell him. I believe where we got confused is we were both typing over each other with advice.

You must be a type "A" person.... so am I. Accept my apologies if apologies are necessary and I think we can agree we have come to the same conclusion as to what he now needs to resolve his issue.

                                Mes.... what do you say?
