Once I bought a stove and it came delivered from HomeDepot and the box didn't have a mark on it. When the guys unboxed it for me the whole side of the stove was bashed in! We couldn't figure that out except it had to have happened at the factory. In any case I DON'T have a Pingel but I have my opinion, and as we all know, opinions are like a**holes, everbody has one. If you own one and are happy with it, that's great, and all the power to you. I'll stick to the stock octy since it's still working fine. Apologies to anyone I've offended, but I've beat the grim reaper a number of times in the last few years, and at 60 I don't get too worked up about some things; life is too short.
You haven't offended me I feel the same way, if you have something that works, don't fix it My octy started acting up a year ago and I got tired of changing oil and risking my motor Phil told me he have had good luck with the pingel, so I got one. Was considering buying the brand new octy I mentioned in my last post, but tried the pingel instead. I am also glad to see others have solved their problems with electric valves, to each their own and it is nice to see all the options that are out there. As I always say " Good luck with your bike's" and I mean that for all here

Yes you are entitled to your opinion and for $100.00 a pop its not cheap(Pingel fuel valve). Put whatever you want on your bike, its you not me.Phil and OEM4ME both tried the Pingel and i personally don't like the look of the 4 Octy lines coming out, which is why i went with the Pingel.I'm not getting worked up either, I'm glad Phil posted his issue with the Pingel,it lets others know what could go wrong.

Yep, no problem fellas, My other bike, 79F has a Pingel too, no leaks so far, I just put a restrictor in it. That bike has mostly highway miles, it probably didn't get as abused as the one on my around town bike. Low RPM = more pulsating vacuum without the restrictor.

                CZ,
Thanks for those links. I have been checking over all of my valves and although I am sure that when I installed them they had a label of some sort on them they appear to have fallen off sometime along the way. There are no other markings on any of them that I can find. I can tell you only that I have never had one fail on me as of yet and I have four of them in operation and one of them is at least six years old.

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

The ones on those sites didn't look like the one you posted a picture of. Yours looks more like an OEM from Detroit.
Do you remember where you bought them? Chevy trucks back in the 80's had an auxiliary tank that could be selected by a switch on the dash, so they must have had some sort of valve. Lot of esoteric stuff out there, if we just knew where to look.

I am not sure what the OEM usage on the ones I have would have been. I am thinking they are too small for Detroit iron as the two different styles I have are 1/4" and 3/16" line size. The original one that I used was from an old Dodge pickup and had about 5/16" nipples on it as I recall. That went on an old Kawasaki four wheeler that had a real bad habbit of leaking fuel when it was not running.

I got these from a small auto parts store about 40 miles from here and it seems to me that they were on a rack that had a lot of various small engine parts and accessories on it. Fuel filters, manual fuel valves, air filters, and a bunch of other things. Would have been more for ATV's or lawn tractors or such things I am thinking.

Well if you pass by that shop again someday, maybe check it out for us. It will add to our database of 'fixes' for these bikes.
Bone stock 1980 Special except for the exhaust and crashbars. Oh yeah, and the scabbard for the Winchester Defender.

Got the Pingel back today and installed it on the bike, everything is working perfectly, I expect it to last much longer this time around. Turnaround time 12 days.

Phil. I know you ride a lot of miles, I think you said around 300,000+ between two of your bikes, what kind of miles did you get before your pingel started leaking?

Not that many miles bro, more like 150K. Probably rode about 20K, mostly city before the Pingel STB.
