help with hardware

turns out putting something together after 3 years and 2 moves just doesn't work out that well... a bunch of hardware has come up missing...

i am putting this together for my brother who is in need of a bike for the summer, and the ol lady doesn't care to see a disassembled xs (even though it looks cool) in our breeze way...

-i am looking to get the length for the triple tree pinch bolts, which i believe threads into an acorn nut?

-also looking for sizes/pics of bushings for the rear fender...

any help would be MUCH appreciated...

yup, i'll be making a few purchases....

found a couple of pieces i could use some help with. if anyone recognizes anything, please chime in:

these bushings... the bottom one has a spacer in it, but is too small to go where the instrument cluster bolts to the trees...


Also...
Minus the cover over the bearings, is there anything else missing? race, bearing, cover, 2 nuts...


do the forks sit flush with the tree?

Those fine thread bolts, and square nuts are most likely for your mufflers and alum. brackets. The tube spacers in the box look like they go in your rubber fender mount bushings. I will have to look again to remember the rest in your pics.

Second photo: The large rubber bushing looks like it goes in the bottom of the metal battery box, a few of the 10mm bolts in the box may also go to that. The small rubber bushing with the sleeve looks like it's for mounting a side plate. The other rubber grommet probably goes in the rear fender where the tail light wire passes through. How am I doing?

Oh, the fork tubes do sit flush with the tree.

Something does look funny with your triple tree. It looks like the lock nuts are in the right place and everything is there for your steering head, but I noticed the headlight brackets don't reach the top of the triple tree. I was starting to think the bike was an XJ, but the air stems are on the top of the forks in your pics. The XJ has small air holes in the top of the fork tubes, and a "shared" air system between the two forks, so the headlight brackets on an XJ are shorter to accommodate the air system. Is your bottom triple tree bracket sucked up all the way to the frame? I think there is supposed to be some kind of bushing or cap at the top and bottom of the headlight brackets, and possibly rubber o-rings as well to take up that distance.

yard dogg... i will def. need some hardware and i really do appreciate all of the help so far... i haven't put on the yamaha logo bracket on the front forks. that is rusted and my dad has access to a bead blaster at work so gonna see if will clean up... i hope that will take up the gap between the headlight ears and the top tree... the bottom tree is all the way up to the frame...

I suspect you are seeing a trial installation photo. The headlight ears should have a chromed ring and a Tetraseal (square o-ring) top and bottom to keep them centred on the fork tubes. Hopefully Chris has those parts.

These only go on the bottom by the way. If the 'cover' is missing between the two forks, that will contribute to the gap.

The steering head bearings and lock nuts look like they are missing a large washer and dust/rain cover, those bearings should not be EXPOSED like that!

The bolts with the somewhat rectangular "nuts" are for attaching the rear foot pegs.

it is a trial, trying to figure out what all i need... now the chrome ring you speak of is the yamaha fork cover, or another ring all together??

i knew there was a cover, but i didn't know about the washer...

anybody know what that bracket may go to??
