Those aren't o-rings, they're actually a U-shaped seal. You can still get 'em new....

Just FYI on the boats.net seals. Shipping is PAINFULLY slow. Other than that, can't beat the price.

          Hi brcree,
can you change those seals without dismantling the butterfly & shaft?
I've always fought shy of that task so mine are presumably the same seals that were installed at the factory.

Thanks Jet.........@Fred.......they aren't hard to get out, I used a hooked dental pick tool and kept picking at the seals. Just take it easy, by now they are pretty crusty and hard. Take your time and they will come.

One side can be replaced, but not both. Part of the linkage is peened onto the shafts, so to get to both seals the butterfly and shaft have to come out...

                  seals

Hey Steve......I could get both seals out with no prob. Are the carbs different between the years in this area? I just removed the "C" clips and a washer.

For your SH, you need seal 256-14997-00-00.

                    Item #38 on the breakdown.

Thanks Jet.......I guess I should have stated the seals are on the outside of the outer carbs.

There's two seals on each carb; to replace both, the rack has to be broken and the shafts/butterflys have to come out.
