Yes you do. Don't let the cost of an OEM brake lever put you off. The pattern ones are excellent and about a tenth of the price.. You know you want one......stop pretending.......

Ive Always liked a pic that i found on the web of an XS11 with an XJR seat and tail. Problem is that its hard as hell to find an XJR tail in the states without it costing and arm and a leg, but my thoughts were to use a tail off of a Katana since the seat kinda looks the same to me. Does anyone also own a Katana or know someone who has one that you can take a look and see if its even possible to use. I dont want to buy one on ebay and then have it not even be close. I was thinking about making the tail out of fiber glass like most people make the cafe style tail. I might make the whole thing that way but I was going to try and use a seat off the katana. If anyone has any thoughts Please share. Ill Try To post pics of my progress when i start making these modifications. Thanks. Greg.

I had one last year, GSX600F. Of course anything could be made to work, but it is not anything like the same frame. So a lot of brackets and such, you would also need the side covers which are sizable pieces.

Here are some pics that may help..

The front of the seat has a tang that goes under a tab where the gas tank mounts. The seat drops low then rises up and latches where the back seat meets it.

You can see the bracket that attaches to the frame and mounts the rear seat and grab rail.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

The front of the seat looks too narrow. looks like if i want to do this it is going to be all custom.

I've got an '06 Katana 600 and was thinking the same about the seats looking similar to the XJR. I'll take the seat off it and lay it against my XS frame, (although, I've altered my frame substantially to fit the electronics and battery behind the seat for a cafe build, but the main areas of the frame are still stock). I'll post some pics, but I'm guessing there would be some decent fab work to make it fit and look proper.

                XJR Seat/Tailpiece Now Available...

                Hi Guys;

A good friend of mine has recently bought this bike:

and I'm afraid it'll be donating its engine to that same friend's trike very shortly...

Other parts will also be available, but I knew that some folk here were quite taken with the tailpiece/seat mods, so I thought I'd let you know that it'll be available to buy very soon...

                Some details:

The tailpiece is from an XJR1300 and is still fitted to the seat rails from that bike. These rails have been welded on top of the original XS seat rails, which have been fore-shortened to a point just after the original top shock mounts... The mod has also required that the TCI unit be removed from it's original mount on the rear mudguard (fender) and that is sitting where the toolbox would normally be.

It'll require similar modification to the frame of any XS11 from it's planned to fit it to.

The seat is also XJR, but it's been shortened at the front to to fit against an XS1100 tank. (2H9 shown in photo).

So, if you're interested, drop me a line...

Apologies for the delay in responding Marshy... My V1000 knackered its starter sprag. I'm off to Holland on it next week, so long hour in the garage of late...

How's about $50 plus shipping..? I'd be happy to get a shipping quote based on a zip code.
