All injected as far as I know... XJR's, however, were carbed until about 2007.

I have used XJR12 carbs on my XS11 so I'd assume the XJR1300 carbs would fit, I think they're BS37's instead of the XJR12's BS36's

Thats IF you're talking about XJR not FJR carbs

They also went from a 4-2 exhaust to a 4-1 at the same time. Looking at the carb son my XJR1300, I'd say the would physically fit easily. The choke cable system would be needed from the XJR, although a pull toggle could be fitted at the side of the carb.

There's no carb stub for connecting the XS1100's vacuum advance though...

Sorry I meant XJR1300 and they are BS37's I know they have an electronic choke and that would need to be changed but I was wondering if anyone has already tried the carbs and of so how where they. I got a set with the 78 XS1100E project I bought. They came in a box with all the other parts that weren't installed. I might try them or just sell them if I can find someone who will buy them especially since the bike was a European only model.

They dont have an electronic choke, I think. You are looking at the black things with 2 wires attached to each carb? If so, they are small heaters to heat the fuel in very low temperatures. The choke is manually operated by cable from the left handlebar.

I looked at my XJR carbs and wondered the same thing re fitting them to an XS1100. I bet they'd work...

The heater makes more sense for that connector. If I don't end up using them I am going to at least use the idle screw off of them because it would be way easier to adjust. I will let everyone know tho. Or if your looking for a compete set of XJR 1300L carbs send me a pm. Even tho I doubt anyone will be looking for them.

I'd be interested in buying them! The only slight problem would be the feasibility of shipping them to the UK..

If that electrical thingy is mounted on the butterfly shaft it must be a TPS (throttle position sensor) normally connected to the xjr's ignition.
No need to use that, although you could use it with an aftermarket ignition..
The BS37 is most probably overkill on a stock bike , so the 36 is more recommendable. I know several people in germany that use these, biggest problem will be drilling carb nr2 at the very same location as the stock carbs to fit the vacuum spigot. Even that is not necessary but without the vacuum controlling the ignition you will lose some of the XS's famous torque..

Depends, Mathh, on whether there's one black thingy on each carb, or one black thingy for the whole bank. The TPS is is only on one carb, on the outside, whereas the heaters are on each carb. The heaters only operate when the temperature is below 13 degrees centipede, to prevent the carbs from icing up, but most of the time they're not needed.

There is just one black connector receptacle on the outboard side.
