normally (stock) which direction does the fuel tap levers point in the Off posistion on a 1980 XS1100SG? to the back or forward

1979 XS1100SF "Old Man" bought by my Dad brand new in 79, customized in 80 with Vetter, Standard tank, and touring seat. I inherited in 02 when Dad passed. Been riding it since 09. No resto, bike is a survivor...

There is! You just have to friend off the little stop tab at the top of the front Chrome plate and you might have to take an 1/8 " off the selector lever to clear the tank and then you now have an off position when the lever is up!Originally posted by ddragon63 View PostTheres an off on standard petcocks? that wasn't the problem, I'm used to petcocks that the levers go toward the back to be in OFF posistion, so I put them on the wrong sides which switched the outlet OFF/ON/RES, PRIME tubes, easier to switch hoses than drain tank and switch petcocksOriginally posted by Rasputin View Postwhere are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?
