He "said" everything there was original purchase from dealership. But I don't care. I wanted to put the saddlebags on my special anyway. A coworker and I drove the 2 hours to the guys house. He already took it out to make sure it was warmed up I guess. No battery, he jumped it and man it sounded good! CCT is leaking more than my SG so that'll be first since it'll be another "Living-room build". Couldn't talk him down in price but I still feel I came out on top. Came with 3 bags of spare parts - 3 carbs(one with mixture screw broke, so he replaced them all) extra petcocks, hardware, badges, you name it. All of the fairings(especially the cafe one) and bags, backrest, trunk are in great condition, needs a wax and the huge fairing isn't the same color but whatever. At least the left side cover isn't broken! He took the "tire lock" or "bead lock" or something out of the back tire(2 holes) and I have no clue what was there, can anyone help me out with that? other than that the spark plugs were rusted so there's that but all in all just looked like a lot of oxidation, I've never buffed or waxed in my life so that will be something to learn. Wallet is tight so she'll be sitting for a few weeks before I start working on her. Seat has a few rips too so idk what I'll do about that. I'm happy with my purchase, definitely like the look over my SG as of right now.

Do I really need two bikes? *sigh*
Thanks to everyone for the help!

      Hi Pan,
a bead lock is a metal shoe that lives inside the tire and locks the tire against the rim to stop the tire from turning on the rim on acceleration and ripping the valve out of the inner tube.
The XS models that came with tubed tires had two of them in the rear wheel.
Hopefully the PO has installed a really sturdy rim tape to stop the tube having an aneurism through those holes.
And most riders need at least 4 bikes, you still playing catchup, eh?

Thanks Fred! Well he didn't use anything to cover it so I'll need a new tube and I guess buy new bead locks - where would I get those? Did the '79F have tubes?

2 seems to be my number.. 2 cars, 2 trucks, and now 2 bikes

I've got 2 or 3 of those old tube type rims here Justin. You would be better off to find some tubless rims for it though.

Any front rims will fit that are tubless. The rear "17 though I believe the only tubless rims were on the Venture. You could swap out and put a tubless "16 rim off of a special though. There are many more tire options for a "16 than the "17.

              Hi Steve,
not everybody is familiar with pipe threads. Perhaps you can add this to your method text.
Pipe taps make tapered threads. Tap the holes from the inside of the rim so the pipe plugs will seal properly.

Thanks for the tip Steve! I just might do that to it. I have all the tools needed at the machine shop I work at so shouldn't take much at all. I'm really looking forward to working on this bike.
