So during the process of cleaning my carbs I somehow lost 2 of the washers in the idle mixture screw holes. Does anyone know of a replacement without losing an arm and a leg. I do have replacements for the valve seat o-rings and mixture screw o-rings if anyone needs some. I am thinking of buying the smallest washer I can find and grinding it to size. Problem is when they are that small already it could turn out to be a bit difficult to resize them.

Mic the thing and go to a small electronics store to see of they have anything close. I doubt a hardware store has any that small.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Also have one more question. Does anyone know if the pilot jet passages are plugged with those caps on the 81H or which models even did that? They weren't when I opened the carbs but not much was right either so I am wondering if they are supposed to be. Thanks1980 XS1100SG "Black Mamba" 28K

You shouldn't need the rubber pilot jet passage caps on 81 carbs. To verify this, remove the main jet and the emulsion tube and look down the tower. On the side nearest the pilot jet tower, there will either be a crossover hole there or no crossover hole. No hole = no rubber plug needed. Hole present = needs a rubber plug. Early 1980 carbs are the ones that need the rubber plug.2H7 (79) owned since '89

purchased washers at Ace hardware
I lost one of the washers this weekend when I was cleaning the carbs out. I found washers with the right outside diameter in the small nut/bolt/washer bin. I had to file out the inside diameter to get it to fit over the needle properly though. cost 0.31 each...Guy

I left my caliper at my buddies house and couldn't measure it tonight. I ended up finding one of them on my workbench so I just need one more. Inside filing sounds a lot easier tho thats for sure
