Yeah I should have checked if the pipes were all hot. Will do tomorrow. It had power but it was weird. It would cut out and come back while giving it throttle. Not pulling past 6 grand.

I take it that's not the good "it ran like **** off a red hot shovel" but the bad ****?
Run it for longer and in better weather. And as has been posted, do the spritzer test to check if it's running on all 4.Fred Hill, S'toon

I tried to run it today. It was running on all four all the pipes were hot but it stranded me on the side of the road. It died out while I was running it was back fireing and poping out of the carbs. Luckly my friend was there in his truck. I thought it was the pick up coils because that's how it felt when the broke before. Once I got it home I noticed the Vaccume hose for the octy was off. I put it back on and it started up. I should have looked when it happened but I just assumed pick up coil wires. It felt like my clutch was slipping it would rev up but not pull. I don't really have any free play on the lever so I'm going to adjust it and then try again. I love the bike but it just doesn't love me back.

I had put my bike on a jack to try and mess with my rotors. Now the exhaust is loose on the right hand side. If I push on them thy will wiggle. But when I ran it I had oil on the front of the engine. I can't be sur but I think that it came from the exhaust. Does this confirm that my rings are shot?

I hope so. I have a small leak from the base gasket but it just dips out here and there. I was looking at the fourm and they were saying that I can just seal it. I don't know I have to do so much to this bike. I'll try to run it soon and then do a proper compression test. I just want to figure out if the motor is gonna need a lot before I start addressing my other problems.

Alright. I mean I have rode it maybe 20 times. I guess I need a new exhaust gasket because the headers are loose but the clamps that's hold them down the flanges? Are tight. eBay? Will I burn up a valve if I run it? The headers just wiggle.

The Exhaust gaskets get compressed during installation. You can't use used ones. You may be able to get them from your local dealer, otherwise you can order them from several sources, www.partsnmore.com or www.mikesxs.net . Yes, I've read that runnng with an exhaust leak could cause you to burn a valve.
