1978 XS1100
Dug the old girl out of storage since it's been un-seasonably warm here the past few weeks! Hit 80 today! Normal high is like 40 with snow on the ground still!
Anywho, I put the fairing back on as the wind can get a bit cold still. One thing I notice is the extreme build up of exhaust behind the windshield. Especially since the old girl has taken to burning about 1 quart every 500. No smoke that I can see, but I can sure smell it. Whew.
Someone removed the original exhaust (of course), and installed some farty 4 into 1. I'm VERY tired of my nice clean XS sounding like a 17year olds riced out Civic.
Hoping I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone here. If I cut off the stupid fart can and replace it with a new Harley muffler, will it mellow it out? Would extending the tail out more help too??
Here is a pic I just snapped of my current exhaust. Is it possible to replace it with a JD muffler and some welding?
