I honestly have never encountered a spacer on the FD side of the bearing. I have an F parts bike I just pulled the engine out of today that I'll be stripping down. I will certainly be looking when I remove the rear wheel.

Speaking of that bike, when I got to disassembling it I found that it still had the original kickstart lever mounted up under the battery box. Looks like it's never been out of there.

    Amazing!

I got to thinking about which wheel I found that odd spacer on, and it was a early standard 'tube' wheel. Yamaha must have decided this was a 'design flaw' (possibly had reports of this same problem?) and changed the spacer to prevent this on all the later bikes. But I distinctly remember noticing this and thinking that was something that needed some attention paid to it to make sure it was in place when reinstalling the wheel...

Anyone have the collar and want to sell it?

I've now spent a day searching the web for the collar for my rear wheel -- the yamaha part number is:
        90387-20741-00

it's the collar that goes between the LHS bearing and the FD -- which probably dropped out when the guy I bought my bike from chanced the tires and lubed/changed the bearings. I found a couple of slight dings/bends in the seal that should have held the collar in place, so it had been removed before I got to it yesterday. It's also possible he put it in backwards (like the spacer on the RHS) with the 'shoulder' part of it on the outside of the seal -- which means I may have dropped it and didn't know it when I changed my wheels the second time.

IN any case, I need one. I'll gladly pay the shipped (overnight even) and recompense you for it at any fair price. They are as scarce as hens teeth...

Thanks. Just PM me if you have one and I'll call/email to arrange it. I'm also starting another thread to try to find one...thanks.

If you don't have any luck finding somebody with a spare, you could have one made pretty easily....

OD is .980", ID is .790", length is .450". Have it made out of steel, and have the machinist leave a small 'lip' on one end to help retain it.

You are a mind reader -- I was just about to post asking if anyone could measure the collar so I could try to have one made if needed -- I'm truly grateful.
