Hey Brant maybe you should look at the pic again...brace in foreground is exactly what i have but jamie said the plate in the background is what i need...This brace fits perfectly on the XJ1100, I have one and absolutely love it. If you will examine closely the pic of the two (2) adapters, one is taller than the other (pictured in the back). The XJ uses the taller of the two, the shorter one is for the other XS11's, (and is the one installed in the picture). TKat sent me both because it had been a long time since he made one for the XJ. The brace really does a terrific job on additional support and looks great also.

okay maybe this does fit...what say y'all now? This is tight...so is the top plate supposed to sit on the fender?

On my Special, there is not much clearance between the fender and the brace. However, the fender and brace do not come in contact with one another. Is that brace gripping the lower fork tube? it does appear to be gripping the fork tube ...however niether clamp is doing so evenly which makes me conclude the top adapter plate is wrong...as I initially thought...

You definitely need the 'taller' center piece, and some grinding on the fork clamps will need to be done. If you look at the clamps in post 62, the 'cutaway' angle is different and you'll need to duplicate that for fender clearance. The clamps should be fully seated down on the lower fork where the dust seal was mounted....Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Here are three (3) pics that may clear up some of your questions. As you can see, by using the taller top brace, it gives clearance of about 1/4" - 1/2" from the top of the fender.
Let me know if you need more pics or have questions, mine bolted right on and I haven't messed with it since.

Thankyou again Jamie... I think its pretty clear that i didnt get the right parts...BTW the bottom pcs do not have the right angles or nor is enough metal been removed to allow a close fit to the sides of the fender(on my set)...so they would have to be ground to the correct angle as well as need ing the correct top plate.
Already emailed tkat...simple crap turns into a PITA but we'll get it right...eventually.

I sent him mine so now i will do just as you suggest. He has done XJ's in the past but when I asked him about doing this for me ...he couldnt remember what he had done in the past...leads me to conclude he is not only retired...his memory aint what it used to be....so now I'll copy jamie's pics and send them off to tkat...ughhh

Actually, when I ordered mine from him he mentioned that it had been quite some time since he made one for the XJ. I guess since it already has bracing, some feel the TKAT brace a waste of money, not me! He sent me both the shorter and taller top piece and told me to let him know which works best after I got it, I did and that was that.
