Not sure what TKAT does not remember. I got a fork brace from him many years ago. At that time did not have any issues with it being for an XJ. Now I can't remember if it was the same as the special one or not. did not have any problems putting it on.
Thanks ...I've spoken with him and he seems to recall that the brace for the special is correct for the XJ...I take it he is retired so maybe his memory isnt as good as it used to be.
When someone with a bad southern drawl around here says it, retired and retard sound the same. lol. They might be onto something, Ben.
I can see all the hate mail now from all you retired (Retard?) guys.. lol...
Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.
You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

LMAOooo...now I'd like to retire, but I dont believe in it...until ofc the ultimate retirement...unless I happen to win the big lottery...yeah right Oh and the TKAT brace arrived today...it looks wrong...but will try it anyhoo...LOL
Yes...but the adapter plate in the first pic isnt the taller one for the special...
Believe the fork pieces with the raised portion IS correct Ben. The Standard fork pieces are flush ascross the top. Put that thing on your XJ.....before fussing about it.........

The difference isn't in the center plate, it's in the risers on the clamps. You have the ones for the Special there. The ones for the Standards don't raise the center plate above the rings in the clamps.

well i'm just a little conflicted because on page three of this thread Jamie shows a pic with the 2 adapter plates and says the taller one is correct...which is what I was basing my info on...then you all say basically the opposite...but I will give it a shot and find that y'all are prolly right...not feeling my "guru" status on this one...LOL

While yer waitin' for the week-end, grab a couple rags and some Blu-Magic, polish up the new pieces before installing.

I'll be interested in your results, I've been wanting to put one on my XJ11 but wasn't sure if the Special version fitted properly on the XJ. And I also thought from Jamie's photo, that the one with the "legs" on the adapter (to make it taller) was the XJ version & the one in your photo doesn't have those legs on the adapter.
