Welcome aboard! Looks like a nice find.

From lookiing over the pics you do have a few pieces to find. Some willl not be to tough, others are all but impossible to find. I note that you will need an inner fender and outer for the rear, carbs, air box, perhaps the TCI, rear tail light and license plate light, turn signals just about all the way around, headlight and cover, and both side covers. Aside from the exhaust Steve mentioned, the side covers may well be the hardest parts on these bikes to find in good condition.

Looks like another one someone decided to tear down to make a chopper/bobber/ rat bike out of and lost interest, thankfully before they chopped the crap out of the frame.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

      i have

I have everything for the bike, just most of it came in a box. the only thing i NEED is a rear brake master cylinder because the one i have the bolts are broken off like that tries to force them off not ease em off and busted it. i will take pictures here in a few hours!! it got left because it had a charging problem. when he got a brand new battery for it it ran fine ( 4-5 years ago) till the battery died then he said the carbs flooded with gas and poured all over the bike/ground. he didn't have any money to put into it to try to figure it out then he found a Honda cb650 for $250 so he covered this one. the motor is free good compression very little little rust. doesn't leak anything.

        Parts resource

        Power Sports Plus

This is a great resource. You find your bike here and you have the entire catalog. You can learn if the part you need is still available as new. You click on the part number and you get a list of every bike that part is used on. This can be a big help when trying to locate used parts.

        Nice find!

                    Hi Josh,
just looked at the photos, you got more bike for less money than I did but you may find that the initial ante is as nothing compared with staying in the game.
The rear m/c can perhaps be salvaged but replacing it will be easier.
The disastered stock fusebox is best replaced with one of TC's $10 blade fuseboxes.
If those surface mount amber lights are for the front signals they only have 23Watt bulbs in them. They may not draw enough current to make the flasher unit work. Put another lamp in parallel to check that when you get round to the wiring.
You may want to dismantle the filler cap to de-rust it.
                    There's a trick to that:-
Ignore the 3 screws in the steel centre of the cap seal for now.
                    Remove the keyed latch.
The inner spring blade that holds the cap can now be pried free if you wiggle it.
Turn it over to see the E-ring that holds the cap on.

Don't throw that rear master away.... take it apart, then use some heat/penetrating oil on it until you get that broken bolt out. A propane torch will supply the heat. That one's in better shape than most...

You got an excellent deal; you're starting with a pretty complete bike that doesn't look all that bad. The key to getting these back to good running order is to don't rush the process; make sure each part/assembly is as good as possible. The PO problems you describe are very typical (carbs, charging system) and simply need the investment of enough time. You need all the other 'typical' repairs too (brakes, wiring). Spend the time to get everything 'right' and you'll be rewarded with a great running, reliable bike; hurry it, and you'll chase problems that will drive you crazy.

Budget some money for the 'specialty' tools you'll need if you don't have them (snap ring pliers, torque wrench, multimeter, dial caliper). Don't be afraid to tackle the carbs; your chances of finding someone who can properly rebuild them isn't all that good, and the cost will be outrageous. Most who have tried having shops do their carbs paid big bux, then ended up redoing themselves anyway.

With the mileage your bike is showing, worn-out parts isn't your problem; it's neglect, and the fix for that is time and elbow grease...

The surface ones were glued on the back of the seat for the rear turns, i don't like them and wont be using them.. i plan on getting stock set for the rear and replacing the fronts. as to the tank. its pretty bad, i might just take it to a professional and have them fix/remove rust for me.
                        another view

yeah i have most those tools from being a back yard automotive mechanic. and what i don't have my grandpa and uncle do have them. and yeah i will definitely be going slow at this, my safety is my number one priority. my plan is to have the first fire up as early as spring 2013!! so i have plenty of time to go over everything thoroughly and make sure its in tip top shape!
