In our continuing effort to improve this site, we've started a new forum for 'Tools'. Up 'til now, they've been put various places but we thought having them in one place might be helpful. This is the place for those 'must-have' specialty tools, both store-bought and especially the home-made ones. Got one you built that works? Saw one that you thought was pretty cool? As is repeated over and over on this forum, you guys are the best. I belong to a great many fishing, cycle, guitar, etc. forums and this is the most informative, easiest to use, and best run of the many I belong to.

The one Ken made that I used is pictured in post #74 HERE. Could not find the dimensioned layout of it.
I had a set wiht all four pins stuck as they could be. I was certain I would snap off a post or four. Used that tool and all four came out with nothing broke.

Ken sent me
one of his tools and as others have stated it's great. I had one stuck so bad that it bent the tool. I wound up cutting the float out with a dremel. I just pounded Kens tool flat again and it has removed probably 20 or so more with no problems at all. If you can't find the link Steve, I'll take some measurements tommorrow and PM them to you so you can do your magic.mack

Fireplug, don't feel bad. There's a bunch of real good mechanics and shade tree ones too, that have been in this predicament. While doing my carbs I managed to break 3 out of the 4 tips in the carb throat. After trying all the options adviced to by the friends at this forum I could not get them out.
Finally, I gave up and called my friend who I knew would figure out a way.
Sure enough, here's what he came up with.
He found small drill bits the same measurement as the hole where the needle was in. I believe around .024in. He cut a bolt to size and drilled a hole in the head to fit the bit in, rounded the hex out of the bolt somewhat and matched an acorn nut to fit.
He cut 2 sizes in lenght of the bits and started with the short one to press it out. When it topped out he changed to the longer one and VOILA !!Comment

Nothing fancy needed to set the float levels, just a good eye.

I have one, but I don't remember where I got it.
A quick search turns up $23 at Amazon.
