One thing to consider about that "feature" is the phone you are trying to attach to. Android does not allow you to initiate a call via bluetooth unless you use a 3rd party app that will activate voice command with a long-press of the answer button on the headset. WinMo phones have always allowed initiation of a voice call via bluetooth, as does BBerry. What I'm trying to say is that it may be a limitation of the phone, and not the headset.

Voice dial is part of the command set for bluetooth handsets, but some handsets don't support the full command set. Every android phone I've worked with supported voice dialing with every bluetooth headset I've used, but the how to was NOT listed in the phone documentation it was listed in the headset documentation.

Yup I found that out a couple of days ago. I was so mad about the fact I could not voice dial out on my new droid that I was going to take it back. The nice lady there just showed me how to do it.

Every online forum I've looked at confirms that true handsfree initiation of a call via a bluetooth headset is impossible with ALL Android phones, unless you happen to find an app that will activate the voice command feature (I have, BTW). True handsfree calling means that the phone can be in your backpack, and if you want to place a call, with the phone locked, you can long-press the answer button on the headset and you hear a prompt of some kind (a beep, or a voice prompt) welcoming a voice command. You can then say, "Call Jim at mobile" and the phone will repeat back saying, "Call Jim at mobile?", and you say "Yes" or "Correct". The phone then makes the call. A single button press unlocks the phone and initiates the call. So far, Android does not do this with the phone locked - you must manually unlock the lock screen before initiating the call.

              Hey Cuda,
That's a great deal and a great find considering they retail for about $325 at discount outlets. Good find.
Only issue now is that all manufacturers are switching to the new Bluetooth 3.0 standard whereby range limitations are greatly expanded because each unit serves as a "bridge" to the next one in line. So, the range limitations are, theoretically, eliminated because the farthest unit uses the closest one to bridge it to the next farthest one.. and so forth. I assume they'll be backward compatible, although probably will not enjoy this feature unless their firmware is updateable to the new 3.0 software.

I don't know about earlier phones, cause I didn't try with them, but with my DroidX with gingerbread with the phone locked pressing the handset with a long press for voice dial does do a voice dial. It does take a moment as voice dial initializes, but it does wake up, open the voice command app and respond to commands given via voice. When you hang up the phone is still locked however, so that doesn't give a way into the phone, it only allows the user of the bluetooth handset to use commands in the voice command set, but when finished the phone is still in the locked state as it was before the voice dial session was started. I was curious as I had not tested this recently as I don't very often voice dial in these situations, but figured I'd check.

Yeah I have an Android phone. I am able to voice dial with my motorola headset. I wonder if the 3rd party app will change with this headset.

Which app did you find that you like?
