Hey all. New to this forum and motorcycles in general. I was replacing my air filter today and noticed a port in the bottom of the air box that is open. It looks like it can let unfiltered air into the engine which doesn't seem right. Should this be connected to anything? I looks like a drain port because it is at the lowest point in the air box.

That's exactly what it is. It's supposed to have a small filter on it but they usually get lost over time.
I just put one of those plastic push in fasteners like cars use to hold plastic covers on, like under the dash. It allows the airbox to drain but keeps the majority of crud out. I'm not sure if you can get any kind of filter for it unless you make somethingGreg

The air travels through the snorkle to the inside area of the filter and flows outward. The opposite of an automotive filter.
The drain hole is just below the airhorns of the carbs on the outside of the filter.Greg
