air brush

I have been trying to teach myself how to do real flames and other things with my air brush. You can make pretty cool paint jobs with stencils that dont turn out too bad. The real flames are a little tricky but you know what they say practice makes perfect. I have done some pinstripeing with tape too and it doesnt turn out too bad it you realy cover it well with clear. There are a lot of good videos of youtube for realflames and just about anything you could want to try with an airbrush. I got my first one at harbor fraight for like 15 bucks,.

i do have a airbrush, but i wanted to give it that real old school feel. i have been toying with the idea of doing a design on the tank and fenders, and maybe the headlight. i was thinking since the main paint is a semi gloss that i might try to some kind of design using flat black, that way when you first look at it, it looks black, but when you get close you would be able to see the design. i want it to be some thing that flows with the bike and not the main feature. i want people to look at the whole bike not just the paint job. still debating on the design i have a 1' by 1' piece of metal that i am going to practice on and see what i can come up with.

my father passed and i am still dealing with it, but i am going to try to do something next week if i get the time. really all i have left to do is rebuild the petcocks and put in the battery and start her up. but i will update as soon as i do something. can anyone tell me how to add a video, because when i start it i want to video it.

Add your video the same way you would add a picture, upload it from your computer to Photobucket or whatever photo hosting site you use, then copy and paste in your post. There should be a still shot of the first frame of your video in your post that you can click on to view.

Sorry to hear about your dad, that sucks man.
On pinstriping, I only have two suggestions, first is that in my experience, the lines come out a lot straighter and cleaner if u r under the influence of a controlled substance... best stripes I ever laid down, the clear hadn't yet ventilated from the garage as I only had the small back man door open, before I was done striping the tank, sidecovers, and fenders(on my cb) I was yelling at the top of my lungs that it was a wonderful day in the neighborhood... but those stripes looked damn good the next day after the headache and dizzyness subsided.
I like my 00 blue squirrel brush the best, but every person is different when it comes to brush selection. My second piece of advice is to get a empty, clean, cat food can, or similar size cup, and only pour and thin small amounts at a time, as thickening, drying out paint is going to be your biggest foe while working the paint.

My dad used to have some striping brushes, but that was long ago and far away. Now, my yard has a lot of squirrels, and I have a pellet rifle. Have you made brushes from raw materials? Any words of advice to someone intent on trying to? CZ

Hm... I haven't thought of that, just know that blue squirrel hair is one of the more common materials for a striping brush. And for striping u want about 2.5-3" long of hair and depending on the individual and the type of striping, u want anywhere from 2-6" long handle.

Uhmm, that may be a problem. It looks like the mange has been in the trees, and the squirrels haven't recovered. Or maybe I'll wait till this fall. and see if they grow a thicker tail in anticipation of a cold winter. Thanks for the info.

time

finally got some time to day to mess with the bike, have alot going on in my life, but finally made myself work on the bike and get everything else off my mind. I made this video of the first start up since i first got the bike about a year ago


i did get to ride it some today, and wow. with the way my bike is set up i had to hold on tight. still have a few issues to work out but she is up and running and now its time to start riding!!!!!

Do you still have the left hand light control switch? I might be interested in acquiring one. I think mine (G) is acting up. I could 'borrow' the one off my SG, but then eventually, I'll have to replace that one.

havent messed with the vac advance yet just want to get it running and ride it to make sure ive got everything working good then ill tackle the advance issue. i have to work out a few electrical issues myself. my headlight isnt working for some reason, and it seems that my keeps losing charge. i know what i have to do to get it working but just need to get a new drill to make the holes and i want to get a micrometer to figure out the thickness of the metal so as not to drill too deep. going to go next week to get the tags. i forgot to tell you, i see you on the road almost every afternoon, heading home from work. i rode the bike around my neighborhood and had some backfiring, but it rode great otherwise. very fast. i would love to go for a ride. also for those of you that are wondering how it rode with the hardtail setup, it rode great. the only time it was rough was when i hit a pothole but the pothole i hit would have been rough even with shocks. the spring seat does take the brunt of the bumps, thats why i went with 4 inch springs. i love how it rides.

sync carbs

i now have to sync the carbs, i have the bike running, takes a little time to warm up but i expected that, but when i ride it it sputters, backfires, and even blows back through the filters every once in a while, so i think it sounds like i need to sync the carbs. one of the floats were stuck at first, and i talked to the guy i got my carbs from and said that it happens some times in shipping since they are new carbs, so i tapped the side of the float bowl with the handle of an screw driver and it worked no more dripping gas. wish me luck.
