    Hey, if your carbs do what mine have in the past, it won't matter what kind of oil you use on your air filter, it will be washed of with gas soon

      I highly recommend No-Toil Air filter oil. Used it with my UNI on the XJ650, and also use it in all my dirt bikes, it is the best stuff I have ever used, and extends the life of your filters, since u won't have to use solvent to clean them next time. No-Toil can be washed out with warm water and dish or hand soap.
      BARE BONES CHOPPERS: If it don't make it go faster, you don't need it!

        ive been using the uni pod filters
        with the original v stax from the airbox
        stuffed inside for years with really ggod results.

            I've used stock, K&N's, UNI's and a few other reusable/washable filters and found that there is very little difference when comparing a clean, stock filter to a clean, washable type. When I had my Triumph Speedmaster, a member of the Rat did a test of the actual filtration attained with different types of filters and when the dust settled, hands down the original pleated filters filtered out the finest particles and had flow rates equal to or even higher than the aftermarket filters. Where the K&N's and other reuseable filters hold an edge is the ability to clean and reuse them for 0$. My FZ1 uses a stock filter that's about $30 so having a K&N does save me a few bucks even if I only reuse it once. If I lived in a place like Arizona where fine dust is an issue, I probably wouldn't use anything other than an OEM because replacing a bank of cylinders on the FZ is EXPENSIVE.

              +1, that is why I add a link to a disposable OEM kind of filter when a member is looking Just blow them out once or twice (depending on your location) Cheap, fast and reliable

                  i just received the Uni Filter and was very dissapointed at the quality and fit. no instructions, just a piece of xerox paper stating "must oil before use". has an internal non removeable cage sorrounded by yellow foam. got it to fit snugly into the bottom of the air box with lots of bending. oiling it and fitment will be a PITA. im gonna try returning it and get a paper OEM style replacement.

                    IDK what you got, but my UNI has removable foam, it wraps around from inside the cage and folds over the outside. So far it's lasted four times the life of my last OEM filter.
                    Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!

                      Yeah, the wire cage gets flattened in shipping and takes a little massaging to get shaped properly. Ain't no thang.

                      Take the foam off and use your old paper filter as a template to shape the wire.

                        thanx DAVINCI! now i see the foam comes off the cage. now oiling it makes sense. duh on my part. live and learn. thanx to all! i guess ill see how it works when the riding season returns.

                          XS1100 OME4ME be very careful with the gas leaking from carbs into airbox or pods. A buddy of mine had some gas in his airbox and when he reved his bike it backfired into the box and burned his bike

                              It already happened!!!

                              It already happened to my XS1100




                              That was my 1st XS1100, burned to the ground at a shop before I ever got to ride it. I had just had them completly rebuild the motor, new clutch, all new parts

                              Fortunitly, the owner was honest and paid for my current XS1100

                                Wow looks like an epidemic
                                I was moving mine two years ago, and thought I smelled gas.
                                I look on the engine and gas is dripping out of the airbox
                                Come to find out the airbox was as full as it could be and a substantial amount had also leaked into my crankcase
                                So now I give it a shake and a sniff before I start it up
                                I'd really hate to burn my baby!
