    Brake Master Cyl Restoration

    The reservoir looked awful. It's all chalky looking. I went after it with one of those headlight restoration kits. It looks good now.

    It looked pretty nice after the 1000 grit followed by 2500 grit wet sanding. The kit has polish and a nice clearcoat to finish it off. It won't pass for new, but it no longer appears old and rotting.

      Front?

      I am guessing you are talking the front reservior?, Mine looked like crap, but cleaned it with soap and water and tooth brush (my woman never even tasted a difference on her brush) (removed from M/C of course) Cleaned the grove in the M/C houseing and re-installed with some sealer on the OEM O ring. Looks pritty good after and seals up nice. Got some pic's of your work? Love to see what you did

                  Mine looks like Steve's before and after in the other thread.

                  200 grit will remove the chalk in a hurry. The 2500 grit makes it real nice and the plastic polish is the finishing touch. I did not want to use enamel because of the brake fluid. If the coating in the headlight kit comes off, I might not notice it.

                  The pieces that go on top of the reservoir (including the cover) are available from Mike's XS for the price of a new master cylinder. ($50)

                  The O'ring that seals the bottom of the reservoir on mine is unserviceable. Does anyone here know where I can source one?

                      I sall the one on mikes, didnt show the top, so dont know if it has the OEM decal, you can still get the OEM cap and dia. gasket if your metal is ok, for $45.00
