No intent in a typed message was considered, I was just having fun back, I'm not one to be quick to jump to conclusions or be thinned skin as they say, I took it all in fun or informative. I was just being lazy and joining in on the thread, I mean I bet we could all ask a lot less questions if we sat down and read it from cover to cover once a week, but what fun would that be....
GLoweVA, they all came with one from the factory, from 1978 on. If you pull the tank and look at the little "pocket" in the frame where the coils are, right on top in the dead center you should see the little sucker.
Like Davinci said, it hangs form a "tang" on the frame and it does has TOP stamped in the body, when it is removed from the rubber loop it is in, you would be guessing which end is up without the stamp, and it is VERY important the right side is up.

If you wonder why bikes are equipped with this tip switch, YouTube some motorcycle race wrecks and watch the guys try to pick up a bike that is still running at a high idle...lots of unintentional donuts...and these guys are pros, mostly.
