  • fuel filters - vacuum lines?

    I am considering adding two inline fuel filters between the bowls and both fuel feeds (Prime / ON, is this a good idea The Oxy vacuum line is hooked to one of the intake manifolds and the ing. advance is hooked to the one carb. body with a vac tube, correct?

    Yes, it is a good idea to run fuel filters, not much room though with the octy in there so run some small ones. Careful not to pinch fuel lines when the tank is in position. Octy to carb boot manifold vacuum, vac advance to ported vacuum on the #2 carb body.

      I run two Visu Filters between the carb bodies and with the "octy" valve. Not too much of a challenge to fit them while replacing my fuel lines.

      I bought mine at my local bike shop.

        The dreaded flood is back!!!

        Well, got them all done with new XV920 needle kits and new in-line filters, hooked everything back up, and presto GAS POORING OUT THE CARBS AGAIN. Pulled the vent lines, GAS STILL POORING OUT OF THE CARBS AGAIN. Included is a photo of my work (please note these were 32 years old and had lived outside for years when I started on them, and looked nothing like they do now) I am as precise with the insides as I am with the outsides, set all floats with a mic. slide rule and set float max range to just past open on new needles and nothing is binding

          Did you tap on all 4 float bowls on initial filling? Does the leak stop when tapping on the float bowls? Those 2 hoses you have on the upper T's are running to the airbox or remaining open, correct?

            Yes, didn't help. It looks like the leak is only on the right two (wich could mean only one is leaking as the two are linked0 Fuel comes out of the vent hose when I removed the carbs and bench tested tonight, going to pull the bowls and bench test one side at a time pushing the floats up with my fingers

              Yep, it sounds like a float is still hanging up or possibly the float valve washer not sealing.

                  Thanks, about an hour polishing, 1/2 hour cleaning + overnight soak of hard parts, 1 hour rebuilding and setting floats and assembly
